ROOT TREATMENT

If the nerve of a tooth is severely irritated or affected, it is necessary to treat the tooth because it would not heal by itself. This is also the case if a tooth does not respond to temperature. The inside of a tooth is a hollow space called nerve cavity containing tissue and blood vessels. During a root treatment all the living and dead organic material is removed in depth. The walls are mechanically and chemically cleaned with the help of tools, irrigation and medication to reach a bacteria-free status. Otherwise the tooth would start causing problems again, even with the best dental filling.
Only when a germ-free state is accomplished, the canals are tightly sealed and a bacteria-proof layer is applied to complete the treatment. If well applied, the tooth can be conserved for a very long time.
